The Good Wife Books Kyle MacLachlan for Multiple Episodes
Talk about a fast recovery!
After co-starring on the first casualty of the fall season — RIP Made in Jersey! — Kyle MacLachlan has rebounded with a multi-episode arc on CBS’ other legal drama, The Good Wife, Entertainment Weekly reports.
Little is known about his character, but it is said he will interact with Eli (Alan Cumming). Could MacLachlan play the latest new candidate entering the gubernatorial race? Or maybe MacLachlan will play a manager for one of the rival campaigns? Start speculating now!
MacLachlan is just one of a plethora of guest stars for Good Wife‘s fourth season. Nathan Lane, Amanda Peet and Maura Tierney have already popped up, and T.R. Knight and Stockard Channing will appear on future episodes of the critically acclaimed legal drama.
MacLachlan, 53, is best known for his roles on cult classic Twin Peaks, as well as Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives. He also recurs on Portlandia.
The Good Wife airs Sundays at 9/8c on CBS.

Grey’s Anatomy Vet T.R. Knight Visits Good Wife
CBS’ The Good Wife is adding Grey’s Anatomy alum T.R. Knight to its impressive roster of guest stars. As reported by EW.com, Knight will play a political operative in an episode to air later this season. Since vacating his role as Grey’s Anatomy doc Dr. George O’Malley in 2009, at the end of Season 5, Knight has only tackled one TV series gig — an October 2011 installment of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit — while focusing on his stage work.
Good Wife Exclusive: Michael J. Fox Returns!
Sunday night’s installment of The Good Wife found Christine Baranski’s Diane Lockhart cracking a joke about raiding the law firm of rival Louis Canning (Michael J. Fox). But perhaps there was a little bit of truth in her zinger. TVLine has learned exclusively that Fox is returning to CBS’ Sunday-night drama for the eleventh episode of Season 4, which will likely air in January 2013. The actor last appeared on The Good Wife during its Season 3 finale, when Canning and competitor Patti Nyholm (Martha Plimpton) teamed up on a case with a broader eye on stealing one of L/G’s biggest clients, a ruse that proved successful and exacerbated the firm’s financial crisis. Fox scored Emmy nominations as Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his Good Wife role in 2011 and 2012. In August, NBC ordered 22 episodes of a new semi-autobiographical family sitcom starring the erstwhile Alex P. Keaton — bypassing the pilot process entirely.

The Good Wife Swears In West Wing’s Stockard Channing as Alicia’s Mom
Who’s ready for a grandma showdown at the Florrick house?
Emmy and Tony winner Stockard Channing has been cast as Alicia’s mom on The Good Wife, TVGuide.com has confirmed.
Channing, 68, will appear in at least one episode later this year as the good wife’s “mercurial” parent who is influenced by her 1960s counterculture youth, according to Entertainment Weekly, which first reported the casting. (Now we know where Alicia’s brother, Owen, gets his free spirit!) Alicia’s mom, and her many marriages, have been referred to often on the show, but she has never been seen on the CBS drama — until now.
Although The Good Wife has always been known for its impressive guest-starring roster, co-creator and executive producer Robert King floated the idea of casting a lesser-known actress in the pivotal part back in 2011. “We’re torn on that because we don’t want to do the stunt casting for the mom. If we did do it, it might be in the realm of not some high-profile actress, but someone who is very real,” King told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s Winter preview sessions. But, obviously that was before the former (TV) First Lady came along.
Channing is best known for her work as fictional FLOTUS Abbey Bartlet on The West Wing, as well as playing Pink Lady Rizzo in Grease.
Here’s hoping Channing gets to share some face time opposite Alicia’s insufferable, manipulative mother-in-law Jackie (Mary Beth Peil) when she guest-stars.
The Good Wife‘s new season premieres Sunday at 9/8c on CBS.
