February 28, 2013 Leave a comment

David Spade is about to experience Bad Management.

The Rules of Engagement star has been cast as a lead in ABC’s comedy pilot, TVLine has learned.

The single-camera project centers on a slightly self-centered female boss at a high end luxury goods department store who finds her ways challenged when the boss’s son Tobias Jr. — played by Spade — comes to town and makes youth and sex the new company focus.

Rachael Harris (Notes From the Underbelly) also joins the potential series as Linda, one of the department store’s employees.

Spade currently stars as Russell in CBS’ utility player Rules, which avoided cancellation last year despite a constantly shifting timeslot. He’s also known for his roles on Saturday Night Live, 8 Simple Rules and Just Shoot Me!.

Exclusive: Nashville Casts a Person of Interest as Deacon’s Enlightening New Love Interest

February 28, 2013 Leave a comment

Get out your pen, Rayna — you’re gonna want to write a song or two about this.

Nashville has cast Susan Misner as someone outside the music industry who catches Deacon’s eye, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Misner’s character is a new vet in town who’ll show up later this season and stick around for several episodes — long enough to show a lovelorn Deacon what his fixation on Ms. James might be costing him.

“For the first time, he’s interested in somebody who is very unlike Rayna and very unlike Juliette,” says series creator Callie Khouri. “It’s the first time we see him with a person that you go, ‘Wow, so that’s what his life would be like if he wasn’t the guitar player to the stars.”

Misner’s recent TV credits include Person of InterestThe FollowingThe Americans, Blue Bloods and The Good Wife.

It’s Official: Scott M. Gimple Named New Walking Dead Showrunner, Replacing Glen Mazzara

February 28, 2013 Leave a comment

AMC is finally confirming what TVLine reported in early January: Scott M. Gimple will succeed Glen Mazzara as The Walking Dead‘s new showrunner.

Gimple will take over at the start of the show’s fourth season, which begins production on May 6.

Additionally, co-executive producer/ special effects makeup supervisor and director Greg Nicotero and Producer Tom Luse have been promoted to executive producers.

“Scott has been an essential part of this show since he came aboard at the very beginning of Season 2,” said series creator Robert Kirkman in a statement. “He’s contributed to guiding this show in a substantial way that has resulted in a lot of the key scenes and storylines fans have dubbed signature moments. I am thrilled to begin work on a brand new season of The Walking Dead with Scott at the helm, and I truly believe we could be embarking on what will be the best season of this show yet.”

Added Gimple: “I’m thrilled to continue the tradition of the spectacular, cinematic, horrifying, exciting and emotional storytelling of The Walking Dead. I’m a huge fan of the comics, and started with the show on the other side of the set, as an avid viewer. Over the past two years, it’s been an incredible privilege making such great television with the best cast and crew I’ve ever worked with – I can’t wait to make some more.”

Gimple has penned five Dead episodes, including this season’s “Hounded” and and last season’s midseason finale “Pretty Much Dead Already.”

Carrie Diaries Exclusive: Former Sex (and the City) Workers Cast in Multi-Episode Arcs

February 28, 2013 Leave a comment

Hopefully there’ll be no rift in the TV space-time continuum when a pair of Sex and the City alumnae join The CW’s freshman prequel dramedy The Carrie Diaries for multi-episode arcs.

Nadia Dajani (Ned and Stacey, The Big C) is joining the show as Deb, a feisty woman who begins dating Carrie’s widower dad Tom — but without his daughters’ knowledge. Dajani previously portrayed SATC‘s “pretzel girl” Nina Katz, who dated Aiden after he split from Carrie.

Meanwhile, Noelle Beck (As the World Turns, Cashmere Mafia), who played Mr. Big’s first wife Barbara in a Season 1 episode of SATC, has been cast as Sebastian’s sometimes absentee mother Ginny, a woman who flits in and out of her son’s life and isn’t afraid to share the intimate details of her romantic life with him.
