Seth MacFarlane’s American Dad will call TBS home starting in late 2014, after wrapping a 10-season run on Fox.

Season 10 of the animated comedy premieres Sunday, Sept. 29 on Fox. TBS has ordered 15 episodes for Season 11, while sister network Adult Swim will host encores.

American Dad is a great fit for TBS, a favorite of comedy fans who like smart, irreverent humor with ample doses of biting wit and skewering satire,” TBS/TNT/TCM boss Michael Wright said in a statement. “We look forward to welcoming Seth MacFarlane and the rest of his team as they bring this iconic show to TBS.”

March 27, 2013 Leave a comment

The cul de sac crew will be uncorking more wine than usual tonight: Cougar Town has been renewed for fifth season. The Bill Lawrence sitcom, which was canceled by ABC last spring and subsequently saved by TBS, is currently wrapping up its first season on the cable channel, with the Season 4 finale set for April 9. The network has ordered 13 episodes for Season 5, which will likely air in early 2014.

According to TBS, Cougar Town‘s fourth season has averaged 2.8 million total viewers and 1.7 million viewers in the 18-49 demo once DVR numbers are factored in, enough to make it the network’s number-one primetime original series ever.

Anyone up for a friendly game of Penny Can to celebrate?

Pilot News: Cougar Town’s Briga Heelan Joins Bill Lawrence’s TBS Comedy; Pitch Perfect’s Skylar Astin in Talks

March 9, 2013 Leave a comment

Pitch Perfect‘s Skylar Astin is in negotiations to star in Bill Lawrence’s TBS comedy pilot Ground Floor, TVLine has learned. Additionally, Briga Heelan, who recurs as Grayson’s flighty baby mama on Lawrence’s Cougar Town, has signed on to join the cast.

Penned by Lawrence and Greg Malins, Ground Floor is a multi-camera workplace comedy that follows a 25-year-old alpha male (Astin) who, upon crossing paths with his company’s support staff, realizes he’s not nearly as happy as he thought he was.

Heelan will play Jennifer, the self-confident and innately intelligent manager of building maintenance who is enjoying an unexpected romance with Astin’s character.

Scrubs vet John C. McGinley co-stars as the cranky boss.

Pilot Scoop: Chuck’s Ryan McPartlin Joins TBS’ Workplace Comedy Do It Yourself

March 5, 2013 Leave a comment

TBS’ Do It Yourself pilot just got a little more awesome.

TVLine has learned that Ryan McPartlin, aka Chuck‘s Captain Awesome, is joining the cast as a series regular.

The multi-cam workplace comedy, from Walt Becker (Glory Daze) Rob Long (Sullivan & Son), focuses on a group of misfits working at a Home Depot-esque super store called Home Time.

Basically, it’s Buy More with cork flooring and dimmer switches instead of flatscreen TVs and iPads.

McPartlin will play Tyler, an enthusiastic employee of the paint department, where he gives several demonstrations a week. Tyler considers himself an actor and an artist, and really throws himself into his “shows.”

Office alum Melora Hardin was previously cast as Home Time’s big, bad boss.
