October 16, 2012 Leave a comment
Syfy has announced a premiere date for Season 3 of Being Human — as well as the promotion of Kristen Hager to series regular status, as werewolf Josh’s girlfriend Nora.
Being Human‘s new cycle will kick off Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 at 9/8c and feature some familiar faces both returning and new.
For one, genre-TV’s go-to guy Mark Pellegrino (Lost, Revolution) is set to return as Aidan’s vampire mentor Bishop. Also, Kyle Schmid (Copper) will be back as Aidan’s vampire protégé/”son” Henry. Among the first-time guest stars, as previously reported, Amy Aquino (Harry’s Law) will play Donna, a witch whose spells are sought out to help find Sally, and Xander Berkeley (Nikita) has been cast as a father of purebred werewolf twins who is intent on locating his missing children. Bobby Campo (Final Destination) will also guest-star as Max, a young mortician who develops a connection with Sally.

Ex-Nikita evildoer Xander Berkeley has booked a recurring role in the upcoming third season of Syfy’s Being Human.

As first reported by our sister site Deadline, the actor will play Brynn (Tracy Spiridakos) and Connor’s (Jon Cor) charismatic father, who is on a mission to unearth what happened to his children — and destroy all remaining vampires. In the meantime, he’ll develop a unique relationship with Kristen Hager’s Nora.

No stranger to portraying the villain, Berkeley is coming off of a two-season stint as the Big Bad on The CW’s Nikita. (Read more about his character’s demise here.)

Berkeley’s other TV credits include CSI, 24, Jericho and The Closer.

SEASON 3 OF SYFY’S “BEING HUMAN” STARRING SAM WITWER, MEAGHAN RATH AND SAM HUNTINGTON BEGINS PRODUCTION IN MONTREAL WITH MUSE ENTERTAINMENT PRODUCING

Anna Fricke is Executive Producer/Showrunner

Kristen Hager to Return as Series Regular

NEW YORK, NY – June 11, 2012 – Syfy’s hit drama series Being Human, starring Sam Witwer, Meaghan Rath and Sam Huntington, begins production on its third season today in Montreal. Anna Fricke (Men in Trees, Everwood) is Executive Producer/Showrunner with Muse Entertainment producing thirteen 1-hour episodes for Syfy.

In Being Human, vampire Aidan (Sam Witwer) ghost Sally (Meaghan Rath) and werewolf Josh (Sam Huntington) share the creature comforts of their Boston brownstone while struggling to keep their supernatural secrets from the outside world. Together they strive to resist the temptations of their true paranormal natures and live lives that are as near to “normal” as possible.

As the new season unfolds, Aidan resurfaces from being “grounded” and finds the vampire community vastly changed; he must find a new approach to feeding that will change his life forever. Sally fights to return from limbo and Josh must deal with an ominous visitor who comes to Boston looking for him and Nora.

Kristen Hager, who recurred throughout the first 2 seasons of Being Human playing Josh’s (Sam Huntington) girlfriend Nora, will return this season as a regular series cast member. Nora, it was revealed in the Season 2 opener, had been turned into a werewolf by Josh and plays a significant role in the drama’s tense Season 2 cliffhanger. Kristen Hager previously appeared in supporting roles in the features Wanted with Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy and Todd Haynes’ Bob Dylan biopic I’m Not There with Cate Blanchett and Richard Gere. On television she has recurred on CSI: Miami and guest starred on NCIS: Los Angeles.

This year, in its second season, Being Human experienced impressive double-digit growth in key demos as well as total viewers season over season. Premiere episodes for Season 2 averaged 2.1 million total viewers per episode (+10% vs. Season 1), 1.3 million Adults 18-49 (+19%) and 1.3 million Adults 25-54 (+23%). It remains Syfy’s youngest and most female skewing scripted series.

Executive Producers are Michael Prupas (The Kennedys, Pillars of the Earth), Jeremy Carver (Supernatural), Anna Fricke (Men in Trees, Everwood) who is also writer/showrunner, and Rob Pursey and Toby Whithouse. Stefan Pleszczynski is Supervising Producer and Irene Litinsky (Human Trafficking, The Phantom) is series Producer.
