Scary-good news out of Syfy: The cabler has renewed Being Human for a 13-episode fourth season, TVLine has learned exclusively.
“Being Human really hit its stride creatively this year,” raves Syfy’s president of original content Mark Stern. “This show has become a signature series for Syfy and we are thrilled to have it return in 2014.”
The drama’s just-wrapped third season averaged 1.8 million viewers, 1.1 million of which fell into the 18-49 demo.
A formal announcement about the renewal is expected to made this evening at Syfy’s annual upfront presentation in New York.
Ex-Nikita evildoer Xander Berkeley has booked a recurring role in the upcoming third season of Syfy’s Being Human.
As first reported by our sister site Deadline, the actor will play Brynn (Tracy Spiridakos) and Connor’s (Jon Cor) charismatic father, who is on a mission to unearth what happened to his children — and destroy all remaining vampires. In the meantime, he’ll develop a unique relationship with Kristen Hager’s Nora.
No stranger to portraying the villain, Berkeley is coming off of a two-season stint as the Big Bad on The CW’s Nikita. (Read more about his character’s demise here.)
Berkeley’s other TV credits include CSI, 24, Jericho and The Closer.
