Talk about a blast from the past!
CBS unveiled its 18 castaways set to head to the Philippines for Survivor‘s 25th season this morning and had a bit of a treat for fans of ’80s sitcoms: A former TV star has joined the CBS reality show’s cast!
Lisa Whelchel, aka The Facts of Life‘s Blair Warner, will be competing for the $1 million dollar prize, and she’s not the only familiar face heading to the Philippines.
Also competing on Survivor‘s 25th installment is Jeff Kent, a former MVP major leaguer who played for the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers.
Longtime Survivor fans can also expect some twists in the new season, including the contestants being divided into three tribes, named after animals in the region, for the first time in eight years: Kalabaw (water buffalo), Tandang (rooster), and Matsing (monkey). Another fun twist? Three former contestants who were medically evacuated from their respective seasons will be coming back on the show.

Made In New Jersey (AKA: Baby Big Shot)
The Janet Montgomery-led drama – about a working-class woman who uses her street smarts to compete with her more polished colleagues at a Manhattan law firm – is the latest hour heading to series at the Eye. Dana Calvo penned the project for Jamie Tarses and Julia Franz’s Sony Pictures Television-based FanFare Productions. Erin Cummings, Felix Solis, Kyle MacLachlan, Pablo Schreiber, Stephanie March and Toni Trucks co-star while Kevin Falls will serve as showrunner.
Partners, from Emmy winners David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, is the personal story of two lifelong friends and business partners whose friendship has lasted longer than any of their romantic relationships. When one decides to propose to his girlfriend, the other’s neurotic attempts to be supportive nearly result in a breakup.
The Lisa Ling-hosted reality competition – in which five contestants will go head-to-head for the chance to score their dream job at one of America’s most prestigious companies – has made the cut for Eye’s 2012-13 season lineup. James Sunderland, Mark Burnett and Michael Davies are all behind the project, which is being co-produced by Embassy Row Productions, Mark Burnett Productions and Sony Pictures Television.
The period drama – about Ralph Lamb (Dennis Quaid), the cowboy-turned-Las Vegas sheriff in the 1960s – rounded out the Eye’s wave of 2012-13 season pickups. Greg Walker and Nicholas Pileggi are behind the project, which comes from CBS Television Studios, director James Mangold, and fellow executive producers Arthur Sarkissian and Cathy Konrad. Carrie-Anne Moss, James Russo, Jason O’Mara, Michael Chiklis, Michael O’Neill, Michael Reilly Burke and Taylor Handley round out the hefty ensemble.
