Renewed: The Almighty Johnsons

New Zealand comedy The Almighty Johnsonshas won a last-minute reprieve for a third season.

Funding agency NZ on Air has granted $NZ6.9 million towards a third season of the TV3 drama show, created by James Griffin and Rachel Lang (Outrageous Fortune).

Griffin had previously told nzherald.co.nz he was “gutted” that he wasn’t given time to wrap up the show’s loose ends which led to a petition and a ‘send a twig to TV3′ campaign, a reference to the mythical ‘tree of life’ from the show.

The series follows a family of Norse gods living in New Zealand and aired in Australia on TEN.

Filming is due to begin later this year.
