The Client List Renewal Held Up By Backstage Debate Over Baby-Daddy Drama

June 18, 2013 Leave a comment

The Client List‘s renewal process seems to be at a pregnant pause.

Star Jennifer Love Hewitt, who is expecting a child with co-star and fiancé Brian Hallisay near the end of the year, reportedly wants her real-life baby daddy to play her fictional one on the Lifetime drama.

But here’s the rub of Sugarland: Both the network and the show’s higher-ups haven’t decided how to handle her character’s on-screen pregnancy in the upcoming third season.

Per Deadline, neither party is inclined to agree with Hewitt’s idea: The showrunner is pushing co-star Colin Egglesfield, who plays Hewitt’s character’s brother-in-law/admirer Evan, as the pop of the new kid, while Lifetime execs haven’t yet decided how to handle its star’s pregnancy should the show move forward. The impasse is leading to a renewal delay.

“There are many story lines we are exploring,” Hewitt’s rep told the site. “So any suggestion that we are not doing our best to develop a great season is simply not accurate.”

The frothy series’ second season finale aired Sunday night with a total of 2 million viewers (opposite the NBA Finals and True Blood‘s season premiere), down from the previous season finale’s audience of 2.7 million.

Who would you like to see as Riley’s baby daddy? Sound off in the comments!

Jennifer Love Hewitt is pregnant! The actress is expecting her first child with boyfriend and Client List co-star Brian Hallisay, has confirmed.

“We’re so thrilled and happy to start a family,” the couple said.

Hewitt, 34, began dating Hallisay 15 months ago after reconnecting on The Client List, on which he plays Hewitt’s estranged husband. They previously worked together on the short-lived NBC series Love Bites. Prior to that, Hewitt dated her Ghost Whisperer co-star Jamie Kennedy after ending her engagement to actor Ross McCall.

Hewitt is reportedly three months along, according to Us Weekly which first reported the news.

The Client List Season 2 to Premiere March 10th

Lifetime has announced a premiere date for the expanded second season of The Client List. Beginning Sunday, March 10th at 10:00 and extending for 15 episodes, the show will pick up with Riley feeling even more pressure in both her personal and professional lives. While she has to reconcile her feelings for Evan with the fact that Kyle returned home, Riley takes on more responsibility at the spa; it may help her financial situation and give her a self-esteem boost to be doing something for herself, but her already complicated life just got even more stressful.

You have to wonder just how much Riley can take before she cracks. Last season, she did manage to be a mother and a masseuse without anything going terribly wrong, thanks to help from Evan and despite not having Kyle around. Now, though, the added responsibility at the spa and an uncomfortable home situation will make balancing all of her lives all the more difficult. Granted, she still has Evan, Linette, and Georgia in her corner, as well as Lacey, but she’ll have to walk around on egg shells around Kyle, who likely won’t be of much help in raising the kids, keeping the household running, or providing her with the emotional support needed at a time like this. With his volatile personality and pent-up resentment for Riley, it’s only a matter of time before there’s another major blow-up between the two of them and this time, it might have some serious collateral damage.

Riley Parks proved last season that she’s capable of doing things that she never thought she could do, but next season on The Client List, it looks like she’ll have to dig even deeper and reach that much farther in order to make it through the latest perfect storm of events in her life.

The Client List stars Jennifer Love Hewitt, Loretta Devine, Cybill Shepherd, and Colin Egglesfield.

Will you be watching The Client List this season? How do you think Riley will handle having Kyle back home? What will it take for her and Evan to finally get together?

The Client List – Season 2 – Casting News – Trevor Donovan to Guest

“90210” fans are loving having Trevor Donovan back in the zip code after an extended absence, but he’s in for a whole different kind of happy ending! The hunky actor is about to get his turn on the massage table on Lifetime’s hit series “The Client List.”

Zap2it has learned exclusively that Donovan is set to guest star as an NFL quarterback who visits The Rub — a massage parlor that serves as a front for a prostitution business — with a few aches and pains… and a wacky fetish that only Jennifer Love Hewitt can accommodate.

Let’s just say we’ll be seeing considerably more of him than we did on “90210” … and dessert is involved.

“The Client List” is set to return in March of 2013, but Lifetime has yet to announce a premiere date.
