Last Man Standing is staging its second Home Improvement reunion this season.
’90s heartthrob Jonathan Taylor Thomas has landed a guest spot opposite his former TV dad Tim Allen in an upcoming episode of the ABC comedy.
JTT (as he was so affectionately known back in the day) will drop by a spring episode of Last Man, playing the manager of a high-end restaurant where Allen’s on-screen daughter Kristin (Amanda Fuller) is looking to work. (EW.com and E! Online first jointly reported the news.)
Thomas has laid relatively low in recent years; Veronica Mars, 8 Simple Rules and Smallville make up his latest TV credits.
Fellow Improvement vet Richard Karn also guest-starred on Last Man earlier this season as the man who designed Mike’s sporting goods stores.
Reunited and it feels… like the ’90s all over again.
Tim Allen’s former Home Improvement sidekick Richard Karn is set to appear in an episode of Allen’s current ABC sitcom Last Man Standing, TVLine has learned exclusively.
Karn will play Bill, a gruff good old boy and the Outdoor Man’s original architect. He is dumbfounded when he learns he may be losing the account to a young, gorgeous woman — who he assumes got the job because of her good looks.
The episode is slated to air in early 2013.
ABC has ordered five additional episodes each of Malibu Country and Last Man Standing, the network announced Wednesday.
The network’s Friday night comedy block has fared well, with Last Man Standing becoming the top-rated show at 8/7c on Friday nights in the 18 to 49 demographic and Malibu Country retaining 100 percent of its lead-in in the demo.
Because the series premiered so late in the fall season, the comedies were given partial backorders instead of the customary nine extra episode-order.
Are you excited for more Malibu Country and Last Man Standing?
As ABC is nearing back episodic decision on new dramas Nashville (UPDATE: Nashville just received a full-season order), Last Resort and 666 Park Ave, I hear the network has ordered three additional scripts each of comedies Malibu Country and Last Man Standing. Both shows started the fall with 13-episode orders. Freshman Malibu Country and sophomore Last Man Standing launched only two weeks ago. Both had a great start in the Friday 8 PM slot before dropping double-digits in Week 2.
Tim Allen’s ABC sitcom Last Man Standing has found a new face for an old foil to Allen’s Mike Baxter.
Jordan Masterson, who played Dumptruck on ABC Family’s Greek, will take over the role of Ryan, Kristin’s baby-daddy and father of her 5-year-old son, Boyd. The part was played in Season 1 by Nick Jonas and is being expanded when the series returns on Nov. 2.
Masterson, who has had parts on How I Met Your Mother, Without A Trace and CSI: Miami, is the half-brother of Danny Masterson (That ’70s Show) and Christopher Masterson (Malcolm in the Middle).
Man, there are about as many performing Mastersons as there are, well…Jonases!
Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing brood will look a little different in Season 2.
Alexandra Krosney, who played the eldest daughter of Allen’s Mike and Nancy Travis’ Vanessa, has been let go from the show for creative reasons, TVLine has learned exclusively.
According to sources, the role will be recast.
Next season, Last Man relocates to Fridays at 8/7c, where it will be paired with the new Reba McEntire sitcom Malibu Country.
